WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE ANYWAY?
Creative Director/Head of School: Ms. Jamiylah Jones, Ed.D.
Because of our aligned educational values, expectations, and vision for providing students with relevant, rigorous, and meaningful learning experiences through creativity, innovation, technology, and personalization, I come to the Wellspring community with over fifteen years in education as a teacher, assistant principal, and principal working in k-12 schools in both in the United States and abroad. My passion for instructional leadership and school improvement is a natural complement to the Wellspring model.
I enjoy traveling, reading, and learning about different cultures. During my non-working hours, I can usually be found taking long walks in the park reflecting and planning.

SUBJECT TEACHERS 5TH - 7TH GRADE
Math: Ms. Fatiha Ahmed
Master’s in Education (Dec. 2016)
Bachelor’s in English Literature
Dual Certification in General and Special Education (Dec. 2016)
My spontaneity and free-spiritedness make me capable of adapting well with various types of people and environments to which I always hope to bring a positive impact. I also enjoy my time in seclusion which gives me the opportunity to self-reflect. The root of my many passions is my deen. I try to gear my natural affinity for world cultures and social justice towards fulfilling my Islamic obligation to be conscientious, learned, and empathetic towards others. I am just as passionate about instilling these same values in my students to help create a future of compassionate leaders.
Teaching, for me, was a pleasurable pastime turned into a career choice. As a teacher, I aim to provide students with meaningful learning experiences that they will carry with them beyond the classroom. Our world is full of opportunities for learning and each child needs to be navigated in their own unique way. Teaching is challenging but it is worth it when you genuinely love what you’re doing.
Literacy: Ms. Fayza Uddin
Bachelor’s in Education, English Concentration
Certified Teacher (Oct. 2016)
CPR/AED Adult & Pediatric
When it comes to the classroom, I strive in maintaining a comfortable environment where my students can express themselves freely without the fear of being judged for their opinions or values. With this, it not only allows them to gain perspective of a range of differing views around them as well as increase awareness in how the use of certain words can affect others negatively or positively.
Like the Wellspring Model, I too, believe that it is important to boost student self-esteem as well as morale by creating learning environment where students feel like they are not at odds with one another. Through the competition vs. cooperation learning method, every student comes out a winner in every situation and thus further increases their tenacity to challenge themselves more and more.
My exuberant and conscientious personality allows me to show my students that it is healthy to laugh at ourselves every now and then but to also remember that it is important to put 100% effort in everything we do in order to be successful in life.
When I am not teaching or lesson prepping, you might find me free writing or reading. Occasionally you might even find me playing video games or exploring new culture and cuisines.

Islamic Studies: Mr. Zakareeya Baksh
Hafidh of Quran
FKAD ADP Program Graduate in Arabic and Islamic Studies
Teaching children is something that I enjoy, because instilling Islamic values in young Muslims gives them the tools to grow up to be great members of society. When we focus on education, we fulfill an obligation, as the Prophet peace and blessings be upon him told us that seeking knowledge is an obligation.
I am very passionate about learning and teaching our religion. Teaching Islam is especially rewarding, because every time someone acts upon what you teach them, you receive the exact same reward as them. This is an investment we can make for the hereafter.
I enjoy reading and reciting Qur’an when I am not working. I also enjoy spending time with family, because family is very important to me. The upkeep of Islamic values is personally very important to me, and I try to implement them in my life in every situation. We are not perfect, but we must strive to do the best we can, and learn from the mistakes we make.
